This wonderful old Doss family photo has recently been identified by Franklin Duell Beard and his daughter Vickie Beard as his maternal grandparents Nancy Lougena Woosley Doss and George Samuel Doss This may well be their wedding photograph - They were married November 08, 1878 in Kentucky

Verla Leona Doss was born July 10, 1893 at Clifty Hill, Clay, Webster County, Kentucky. She was the sixth child born to George Samuel Doss and his wife Nancy Lougena Woosley Doss. On March 20, 1912 she married James William Webster Smith at Dixon, Webster County, Kentucky. Will (as he was called by his family) was three years older than Verla and from the same county. Verla's siblings were:
