Mary Elizabeth Lankford

Mary Elizabeth Lankford was born January 24, 1870, in Airdrie Hill, Kentucky , to James W. Lankford and Mary Jean Gibson Lankford, the third of their seven children. She was my mother's father's mother - my great-grandmother.

James W. Lankford was born in February of 1839 in either Warren County or Logan County, Kentucky . Mary Jean Gibson was born in June of 1841 (or 1840) in Ohio County Kentucky. They were married July 29, 1862 in Ohio County, Kentucky . Their children were:

Mary Elizabeth Lankford married Joe Smith November 02, 1889, in either Knott County or Webster County, Kentucky. I know very little about the Lankford family - almost no first hand knowledge, mostly what I've found by searching the Internet. I recently found a great website "Jeff's Langford Family - Copyrighted by Jeff Davis and Bill K. Langford" which tells me more about Mary Elizabeth's father and grandfather than I ever imagined I would find. Apparently the Lankfords were Kentuckians for several generations. Mary Elizabeth's father, James W. Lankford, was a Civil War Union Army Veteran. His father, Benjamin D. Lankford, served in the War of 1812. I believe the Lankford men were farmers. My search continues for information about this family.
