These are the children of Joseph Uknavage (B) and Anna Jane Devine. A fourth child, Gertrude (B2), died very young.

Joseph Uknavage was my grandfather. He died in 1940, seven years before I was born. He was a coal miner all his life; he worked hard and he drank hard. After his wife died from kidney problems (possibly a complication of pregnancy) at the age of 37 Grandpa didn't do too well on his own. Just two years later he followed her at the young age of 53. Their lives were very difficult and most of the stories I've heard about them are sad.
